Cliches

Talking of which, Graham Greene's famous story about Saigon, "The Quiet American," was written while Greene was staying at The Continental Hotel. The story (and movie) prominently features the hotel ad well. Greene frequently lived in room 214.

My cup of tea at the sidewalk cafe was the Saigon equivalent of an aperitif on the Champs de Élysées, expensive and decadent.
