This is the notice to myself that another journey is about to begin. As if all of these twists and turns are not the composition of a single journey. But, yes, for conventions sake, this is one of the last things I do before I climb aboard for the long plane ride.
The bag sits, packed. The anti-malarial drugs are waiting at the pharmacy. Before I stick some cash in the smugglers pouch and strap the passport into its hiding spot, its time to set up The Blog.
Just the facts, Ma'am: Seattle to HCMC (that's Ho Chi Minh City) on November the 21st. From there, I have the loosest of plans. I will aim West and South across the Mekong Delta, sticking to small boats as much as possible. I will cross into Cambodia at the coast. Then the plan disappears.
Before January 7th, I will re-surface in Bangkok and fly home from there. To the concept of home, if not the reality. That period of time between, say, December 1st and Bangkok in January? "Well, we just don't know, Dude."
