Banteay Kdei

One of the Aspara that adorn thousands and thousands of columns in the Angkor complex.

Banteay Kdei versus the jungle

It was another bicycle day, with Trusty Rusty VI and I tackling Le Circuit Petite of the Khmer temple complex. The Angkor temples, of which Angkor Wat is simply the most famous, are scattered over many square kilometers. Outside of the immediate Angkor area, there are many, many more temples, from Phnom Kulen fifty klicks to the North and Rolous thirteen klicks to the East.

I started my day at Banteay Kdei, the furthest East temple on the small circuit, but still much, much closer than the far-flung stops I was making yesterday. My ass was grateful.
