Battambang Architecture

These shop houses are almost 150 years old, are still in use, and adjoin a Chinese temple.  I am standing at the riverside, which divides the city into Western and Eastern halves.

A Khmer and French influenced villa on the riverfront street, which has been a residence, ministry structure and a bank.

One of the hidden back alleys that run behing almost all of the shop house blocks.  They are often so narrow that one can touch the opposing walls with outstretched arms.

Preperations are underway for a Cambodian wedding.  Note the loudspeakers on the pole to the right. Tonight, these will be blaring music at ear-splitting volume.
